Your Profile picture helps personalize your profile and show your professional side. Ladders’ AI tool can flag photos for a number of reasons. Here are some tips to help you ensure your photo is the best it can be:
- Blurry or too small
If you upload a photo that is too small it will appear stretched. Photos that are stretched or blurry may be flagged, because Ladders’ AI tool is unable to identify the object in the photo. Try to upload a high resolution photo. Most smart phones these days create beautiful quality photographs. Simply choose a recent photo on a smart phone and it should be ok.
- Too close or too far away
A zoomed in photo, or a distant shot, would not have a clearly defined face. Our AI tool has to recognize that a face is present. If you have a landscape shot your face may not be clearly visible.
- Group shots
Group shots are discouraged because it is always difficult to tell which person in the group is you. This would be flagged. Your Profile is about you and highlights your professional self.
- Cropped face from a group shot
A cropped face from a group shot may have someone else’s facial features visible. Since it is not a full face, our AI tool will flag it.
- Bad lighting
Bad lighting often creates shadows that can obscure facial features, making it hard for Ladders’ AI tool to identify a person in the photo.
- Goofy expressions
If you have goofy props in the photo, it may obscure your face and cause our tool to flag it. Large sunglasses, silly props or masks will cause your photo to be flagged. Pictures of this type are also out of context on a professional profile.
- Pet photos, or Baby photos
Since Ladders’ AI tool cannot identify the face of an animal, and baby facial features are still developing, they are automatically flagged as inappropriate for a professional profile.
- Plant photos
Your Ladders Public Profile should be a photo of yourself. The AI tool will flag any photos that do not show a distinguishable face.
